IN PRINT
First time authors have a harder time getting published in print format. Print books still make money and are part of a billion dollar industry but are relatively difficult for first time authors. The biggest type of book publishing is still print publishing.
ONLINE
At least 15 percent of U.S. adults U.S. have read an ebook either using a Kindle, IPad, or computer. Every 18 months the demand for ebooks doubles. It is a growing trend that shows promise to keep continuing. Many publishing companies do both online and in print because both are still needed. A well known publisher, HarperCollins, does 95% of its books online.
Miscellaneous
Audiobooks have started to become popular. Not every author does these and even if they do, they are difficult to find. They are an option for publishing format but not a main type. Audiobooks usually go along with books in print and/or online books.
